Course:
This 5K is an out and back. The race starts at Charlie’s Place Animal Shelter and utilizes the path through Clear Creek County Open Space right along Clear Creek, continuing on Silver Lakes Dr and out to County Road 308 for a short distance. Racers will then turn left on to Alvarado Road and continue to the Lawson Whitewater Park, where there is a water station (for humans and dogs) and restrooms. Runners will follow the same course back, finishing at Charlie’s Place.

The roads listed above will not be closed and you will encounter some traffic. Runners and dogs must run on the shoulder of the road. Vehicles have the right of way. There will be course marshals at all critical intersections, but they will not be stopping traffic. You must stop for traffic and obey all traffic laws.
If you run with music, please consider not doing it for this event. If you must, leave one ear bud out.

Post Race:
Please stick around after the race for light refreshments and most importantly come into Charlie’s Place, take a look, and maybe pick up a new family member.

If you adopt a pet, your race fee will be refunded! Race will be timed and results posted following the race. This is a non-competitive “fun run/walk”, but feel free to test your speed and go for a personal record!

Running/Walking with your dog:
Participants are allowed and encouraged to run/walk with one pup. Dogs must be up to date on vaccinations, non-aggressive and leashed at all times. By bringing your dog to this event you are acknowledging the above statement. You are responsible for your dog and its actions. YOU MUST PICK UP AFTER YOUR DOG. There will be plenty of trash bags and trash cans at the start/finish and turn around.

There will be a doggie pool for drinking at the start/finish and at the turn-around. Running with a dog is not necessary, but if you do not have one and wish to take out a shelter dog, contact us and we will coordinate for you to run with a shelter dog from Charlie’s place if one is still available.
